PA Level 6 - Instructional Multimedia Specialist - Office of the Vice-President, Academic and Research
$62,405 to $68,552 per annum, as per CUPE 1870
The Teaching and Learning Centre requires the services of an Instructional Multimedia Specialist with excellent communication skills who will work closely with our team, faculty members and instructional staff from all faculties and other staff in teaching-adjacent roles.
Reporting to the Manager of the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC), the Instructional Multimedia Specialist will work with course instructors (full-time faculty, part-time faculty, sessional instructors, lab instructors, clinical nursing instructors, practicum advisors, and other instructional staff) to support the design, development, and delivery of excellent instructional multimedia learning materials for credit-bearing courses at the С»ÆÊéÊÓƵ. The Instructional Multimedia Specialist will also work with colleagues to help develop the digital literacies of instructors.
The successful candidate will have the right blend of technical expertise, educational experience and people skills required to provide the best support possible to UPEI faculty and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and support the creation and use of multimedia learning materials
- Collaborate with instructional designers to ensure that content provided by the instructor/subject matter expert is interpreted, shaped, and translated into multimedia that provide an effective learning experience
- Combine technical knowledge of multimedia tools and techniques with visual design and interaction design skills
- Apply adult learning principles and evidence-based teaching practices
- and multiple delivery strategies to the development of multimedia
- course materials, (e.g., in-person, online - synchronous and
- asynchronous, hybrid/blended learning)

- Share best practices for optimal user experience and accessibility, to ensure that the use of multimedia is effective for all learners

- Build relationships with colleagues in offices and departments all over campus to determine the gaps in multimedia resources and use this knowledge to offer workshops and other support pieces as needed
- Undertake other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in the area of multimedia design or film studies
- A minimum of five years’ experience working in a multimedia environment, preferably within a university or college setting
- Equivalent education and/or experience will be considered.
- Must be able to work in a team environment, independently as required, and multitask on a variety of duties and projects
- Strong communication skills, especially for written/content creation, with the ability to convey complex information clearly
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrable attention to detail and accuracy is required
- Experience with video production, audio production, animation, graphic design, and screen recording processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Adobe Creative Suite are required
- Experience with learning management systems such as Moodle, Google Apps, Pressbooks, and social media would be an asset
- Strong digital literacy skills
- Strong visual design skills
- Strong storyboarding skills
- Demonstrated capability to record surgical and medical procedures would be an asset
