Applications now open for the Atlantic Veterinary College鈥檚 Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp
The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) is now accepting applications for the 2023 Dr. Tim Ogilvie AVC Vet Camp (AVC Vet Camps).
The four, one-week camps are offered annually in the summer and provide an opportunity for junior high and senior high school students to learn what it is like to be a veterinarian. Participants have the opportunity to work alongside faculty, staff, students, and experts in the field during a number of hands-on activities, labs, lectures, field trips, and discussions.
Although the schedule changes every year, campers traditionally participate in; small and large animal physical examinations; learn about anatomy, radiology, and pathology; perform dissections; gown, glove, and learn to suture like a surgeon; sit in on guest presentations and go on field trips; and much more.
The AVC Vet Camps are highly sought after and welcome participants from all over the world. Each camp has approximately 50 youths participating and they are selected through a random lottery draw.
Students entering grades 7鈥�9 in the fall of 2023 can apply for the following junior camps:
- July 10 鈥� 14, 2023
- July 17 鈥� 21, 2023
Students entering grades 10鈥�12 in the fall of 2023 can apply for the following senior camps:
- July 24 鈥� 28, 2023
- July 31 鈥� August 4, 2023
