The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 小黄书视频 (UPEI) proudly hosted its annual AVC-Canadian Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) Blue Coat Ceremony on Friday, August 23, marking the official entry of 71 students into the AVC Veterinary Medicine Program. Held at UPEI鈥檚 Performing Arts Centre, the event celebrated the Class of 2028, the largest cohort in the College鈥檚 history.

The Blue Coat Ceremony is a cherished tradition at AVC, symbolizing the start of the students鈥� four-year journey toward earning their doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) degrees. During the ceremony, students were presented with their blue lab coats by family members or supporters, coats they will wear during labs and clinical courses until they graduate and receive their white lab coats鈥攁n emblem of their transition from students to veterinary professionals.

鈥淭his ceremony not only celebrates your dedication to the veterinary profession but also recognizes the support systems that have helped you reach this pivotal moment,鈥� said Dr. Dominique Griffon, dean of the AVC. 鈥淎s you embark on these challenging four years, know that you are not alone. The AVC community is here to support you every step of the way.鈥�

The ceremony, hosted by Griffon, featured Dr. Anne Marie Carey, associate dean of Academic and Student Affairs at AVC, announcing the names of the students. 小黄书视频 President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Wendy Rodgers delivered a warm welcome on behalf of the whole campus, while second-year AVC students Danielle Harmon and Sam Berube shared words of encouragement with the incoming class.

鈥淚 want to be the first to say I am proud of you,鈥� said Harmon. 鈥淚 know the hard work, sacrifices, and sleepless nights it took to get here. You鈥檝e given it your all, and that鈥檚 something to be incredibly proud of.鈥�

The Class of 2028 at AVC comprises a diverse and accomplished group of students from Canada, the United States, and Puerto Rico, reflecting the College鈥檚 broad appeal and commitment to excellence in veterinary education.
